Welcome to par4kidssake.org, the web site for the Providing Autism Research (PAR) For Kids Sake Annual Golf Tournament.

Our Mission

We are raising money and public awareness for the cause of finding a cure for autism.  The latest statistic shows that in California alone, 10 kids a day, every day, are being diagnosed with autism.  Rather than just asking for contributions, we like to make this cause something in which people can enjoy participating.  So we created an annual golf tournament, the proceeds from which go to the M.I.N.D. Institute of UC Davis Medical Center.

What Motivates Us

Our children and many like them need your help.  The number of autism cases nationwide is rising at an alarming rate.  Even if you don't know somebody who is directly affected by this terrible disease (and chances are you do), it affects everyone in terms of the growing burden on state and local services. Check out the numbers.

1 out of every 166 children born this year will be diagnosed with autism before their 3rd birthday. This is up from 1 in 2,500 less then a decade ago. 68 children per day are now suffering from this devastating disorder - the magnitude of this ongoing tragic epidemic is truly mind boggling. Please join us to help the research scientists at the M.I.N.D. Institute find the cause and the cure for autism.

PAR 4 Kid's Sake has raised almost $400,000 for the U.C. Davis M.I.N.D. Institute since our inception to help this unbelievable group of dedicated people find a cause and a cure for autism.  View our past performance by year.

As PAR 4 Kid's Sake has grown so has our desire to expand the areas where our funds get directed. We have had many comments over the past few years from parents of autistic children and others that they feel it is great what we are doing for autism research. They also commented that they would like to see some of our funds directed towards kids and families who are currently living with this devastating disorder.

There is a local group called Exceptional Needs Network (www.ennetwork.org) that focuses on helping developmentally delayed students and their families. ENN sponsors conferences on a variety of special education topics and for the past four years, they've run summer camps for special needs children at Taylor Family Foundation's Camp Arroyo in Livermore. (www.ttff.org).

This year, PAR 4 Kid's Sake has partnered with ENN to create a joint classroom grant program. This program will allow special education teachers in the East Bay to apply for 'mini' grants of $500. These grants will help these teachers purchase books, software, and supplies or to assist with activities or unique ideas that are not typically funded by school districts. In this first year our goal is to supply 40 grants to our local special education teachers!
